Flying Canoë Volant

Photo of the Flying Canoƫ Volant event in Edmonton

Flying Canoë Volant is a free, inclusive, winter festival celebrating First Nations, Métis and Franco cultures through education, art and music. The bilingual festival has family, art, the outdoors and community at the core of its values.

Loosely based on the shared legend of La Chasse-galerie, Flying Canoe takes you through a re-creation of the adventure. Take illuminated trails (and view beautiful art installations) that connect visitors from the French Quarter to the beautiful Mill Creek Ravine.

There's so much going on throughout the three areas of the festival (La Cité Francophone, Rutherford School and Mill Creek Ravine). Take part in horse-drawn wagon rides, Métis jigs and reels, bannock making, storytelling, drumming, food, a cabaret, winter activities, a giant snow slide and much more!
