With Interac e-Transfer®, you can send money to anyone with a Canadian bank account and an email address or mobile phone number. It’s fast and easy. Plus, it's available in both online and mobile banking so it's there when you need it.

Interac e-Transfer comes with flexibility built in

  • Send money from your Servus chequing or savings account.
  • Notify your recipient by email, text message or both.
  • View, resend or cancel a transfer anytime (until your recipient deposits it).
  • Register for Autodeposit so transfers sent to you can be automatically deposited into your account.
  • Use Request Money to ask someone for the money they owe.
  • Any transfers you send or receive will appear in your transaction history and on your statements, so you always have a record.

Protect yourself

While Interac e-Transfer is an easy and convenient method to transfer money, it's important that you take precautions to make sure your money is transferred safely and securely. Once money is sent via Interac e-Transfer, it is no longer protected by Servus’s security systems.

Here are some of the ways you can protect yourself:

  • Only send cash to people you know and trust. An Interac e-Transfer can't be reversed once the funds are deposited.
  • Make sure to create a security question and answer that is not easy to guess. The answer should be something that only you and your recipient know and that would be hard for someone else to guess or to research online.
  • Don't share your security question and answer using unsecure methods (e.g. providing it in the question field or posting publicly on social media).
  • Set up Autodeposit so your money is automatically transferred to your account without the need to enter an answer to a security question.

Here are some additional things you can consider doing to further protect your money when sending it through an Interac e-Transfer:

  • Suggest that anyone you send money to sign up for the Autodeposit feature.
  • If you don’t receive a notification that your Interac e-Transfer was successfully deposited within a few days, reach out to that person to ask them about the delay. You can cancel the pending Interac e-Transfer if you have any concerns.
